The artist were 11 urban artists and 11 fine artists who's work had political messages or motives behind their creation.
For only the second time yet I got to exhibit my piece 'Prayers Over the White Cliffs of Dover', a painting inspired by the Victorian painting by William Dyce called Pegwell Bay. The similarities visually stop at it being a beach scene, but Dyce created a scene of unease at the Victorian's questioning of religion and the scientific discoveries that were challenging a lot of their religious beliefs. This is represented by a comet in the sky which I also incorporated in my painting.
I decided to portray a nun and a muslim lady praying over The White Cliffs of Dover as historically these cliffs have been where the country has been attacked from and defended itself rigourously. The ladies are praying unitedly for an end to the religious wars still ongoing both within Britian and beyond the seas. Their clothes and the similarities in the praying positions also unify the ladies, attempting to close in the gaps made by human beings misguided by religion. I also attempted to create unrest with the storm brewing in the sky and the sea, hoping the storm will pass...

Last night was the opening night and I have taken some pictures for you all who couldnt make the event!
The exhibition is on until 22nd June so if you can get along this week I am fairly certain there will be something for everyone on display with such a wide variety of works.
