Opening night at the Hay Hill Gallery, Cork St London

Last night was the opening of Urban Landscapes at Cork Street's Hay Hill Gallery...and what a night it was! The gallery was packed by the end of the evening, with five openings on Cork St in total last night it was a very buzzing lively place to be.

I was really pleasantly surprised by the overall feel of the exhibition, it had works of many different contemporary approaches to Urban Landscape painting and was a real visual feast. With the majority of the artists all being relatively young in art years, it was fresh and vibrant and there were some fantastic painting skills on show too.

And amongst all the paintings on the gallery floor was a selection of the gallery's Rodin sculptures...I have to say, I rather enjoyed seeing my Tesco paintings next to the works of Rodin. I didnt think i'd see the day!

One artist who's work I really loved were by Will Martyr, the round canvases in the photo above and below being inspected by Tinsel Edwards. The exhibition is on until June 4th and is worth a visit if you are in the Mayfair area. Upstairs in the gallery is also a solo show by Daniela Ribeiro who's works using recycled mobile phones (she must have been collecting for YEARS!) are really worth checking out too! http://www.hayhill.com/

Urban Landscapes at the Hay Hill Gallery, Cork St

Tonight sees the opening of an Urban Landscapes painting exhibition I am taking part in at the Hay Hill Gallery on Cork St.

Although i'm not traditionally an Urban Landscape painter, I do have pieces which fit the bill, namely my Tesco Series of which two were selected for this exhibition.

The Hay Hill Gallery is a specialist in modern and contemporary works of art - sculpture, painting and works on paper.

A collection of over 50 sculptures by Auguste Rodin is on permanent display at the gallery. Hay Hill gallery also holds a substantial inventory of works by major 20th century artists such as Andy Warhol, Edward Munch, MF Hussain, Pablo Picasso, and more. Hay Hill Gallery represents a number of internationally acclaimed contemporary artists. http://www.hayhill.com/

Other artists in the Urban Landscapes exhibition are Kevin Fitzpatrick, Matthew Linhop, Pedro Baztan, Phil Ashcroft, Will Martyr, Richard Blades.

Here are the two pieces which were selected for the exhibition. Titled 'The Bank of Tescland' and 'Tescminster Cathedral' both pieces are Acrylic and aging varnish on canvas in ornate frames. Please do get in touch if you'd like any more information!
